Reimbursement in the age of health IT transformation is by necessity an audit-rich environment.
- An eligible professional (EP), eligible hospital (EH), or critical access hospital (CAH) attesting to receive an incentive payment for either the Medicare or Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program may be subject to an audit.
- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and its contractor, Figliozzi and Company, will perform audits on Medicare and dually eligible (Medicare and Medicaid) providers participating in the EHR Incentive Programs.
- The State of RI will also perform audits on Medicaid providers participating in the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.
Your Relationship Manager* can meet with you to review RI-REC’s Meaningful Use Audit Checklist. This contains a list of supporting documents recommended by CMS to be kept on file, validating submitted attestation data to avoid possible fines and/or penalties.
* Services from a Relationship Manager are available to Premium and Premium Plus members.
